ˈDokshycy-Kruˈliewshchyna ofˈfensive of 1943

Battles to crush German Nazi invaders in the town of Dokshycy and at the Kruliewshchyna railway station (Kruliawshchyzna; on the Maladziechna — Polack line) on August 16–17, 1943, during the Great Patriotic War. It was conducted by the 1st Anti-Fascist Partisan Brigade in cooperation with the “Zhelezniak” Partisan Brigade of Minsk Voblasc.

In the evening of August 16, the partisans besieged Dokshycy and encircled all garrison military facilities and the Non-Commissioned Officers School by the battalion forces. On August 17, at 6.00 a.m., the assault groups disarmed unexpectedly for the enemy and in a short firefight in separate street battle sections killed 38 and captured 60 Hitlerites. Then, the 1st Anti-Fascist Brigade moved to the Kruliewshchyna station. It was covered from the flanks and rear by the “Zhelezniak” Brigade which, in order to distract the enemy’s attention, began actions on the railway section in the area of the Parafjanava station and between the Kruliewshchyna and Glybokaje. By the evening of August 17, the enemy had been completely mopped up at the Dokshycy and Kruliewshchyna station.

As a result of this fierce battle on the approaches to the Kruliewshchyna station and in the location of the garrison, more than 500 Hitlerites were annihilated, all station constructions were destroyed, 4 bridges were exploded, a steam locomotive depot with four trains, 35 wagons, oil depot, warehouse with ammunition, garage with motor vehicles, 2 mobile radio stations, large amount of food, military accoutrements, ammunition, and arms, including 3 guns, 20 machine guns, rifles, were commandeered. The section of the Kruliewshchyna — Parafjanava railway was disabled for a day. The partisans lost about 40 people killed and wounded.

In 1964, a monument was raised in Kruliewshchyna in honour of the partisans’ combat operation.
