Baˈrysaw ˈMilitary Forˈmations and ˈUnits

For the liberation of the city of Barysaw (July 1, 1944) in the course of the Minsk offensive of 1944, during the Great Patriotic War, 13 units and formations of the 11th Guards, 31st and 5th Guards Tank, and 1st Air armies of the 3rd Belarusian Front were awarded the Barysaw honorary title (the Order of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief dd. July 10, 1944).

Units and formations which were awarded the Barysaw honorary title were the 62nd (major general P. G. Borodkin) and 174th (colonel N. I. Demin) Rifle divisions, 66th Anti-Aircraft Artillery Division (major general S. S. Sazonov), 4th Guards Bomber Aviation Division (major general of Aviation F. P. Kotliar), 148th Engineer Tank Regiment (major S. I. Sotnikov), 47th Independent Guards Reconnaissance Aviation Regiment (colonel T. R. Tiurin), 86th Guards Fighter Aviation Regiment (Lt.Col. V. A. Chistiakov), 125th (Lt.Col. V. V. Markov), and 127th (colonel A. A. Kalachikov) Guards Bomber Aviation regiments, 11th Guards Engineer-Sapper Battalion (major M. S. Malakhaw), 103rd Independent Road Maintenance Battalion (major Ja. K. Trajanaw), 204th Independent Engineer-Sapper Battalion (major A. A. Kravchenko), 1008th Independent Signal Battalion (major A. S. Bozhanov).

A commendation was given to the troops that participated in the battles during the forced crossing the Biarezina River and liberation of Barysaw by the Order of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief dd. July 1, 1944. Moscow witnessed 224 guns saluting with 20 artillery salvoes.
