Baraˈvyja
Village in the territory of Vierhniadzvinsk Rajon, Viciebsk Voblasc, destroyed along with its inhabitants by Nazi invaders during the Great Patriotic War.
It was located 2 km northeast of Lipawki village, the Sarja Rural Council. Before the war, the village had numbered 8 households and 46 people lived in it.
During the Winter Magic punitive operation on February 16, 1943, the Hitlerites killed 25 inhabitants and burned the village (8 homesteads).
After the war, the village was not revived.
The grave of the fascism victims is located 1.8 km northeast of Lipawki, on the fringe of the forest. There is a cross raised on the grave.
In 1976, 1.5 km northeast of Lipawki, a kurgan (barrow) and stele were raised in memory of Baravyja village and its inhabitants. The village is immortalised in the Hatyn memorial complex.
