Luniˈniec ˈMilitary Forˈmations and ˈUnits

For the liberation of Luniniec (July 10, 1944) during the offensive of Soviet troops in the Baranavichy-Brest direction by the Order of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief of July 23, 1944, six units of the 1st Belarusian Front and a formation of the Dniapro River Military Flotilla were awarded the Luniniec honorary title.

Units and a formation that were given the Luniniec honorary title were the 89th (lieutenant colonel A. D. Taranenko), 107th (lieutenant colonel F. V. Smekalin), 111th (lieutenant colonel I. P. Chernousenko), and 117th (lieutenant colonel F. I. Vinokurov) Rifle regiments; the 239th Independent Line Communications Battalion (major M. A. Kulagin); the 73rd Military Construction Detachment (captain A. U. Franchuk); the 2nd River Ships Brigade (captain of the 2nd rank V. M. Mitin).

In the Order of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief of July 10, 1944, the troops which liberated Luniniec were announced commendation, Moscow witnessed 224 guns saluting with 20 artillery salvoes.
