ˈLida ˈMilitary Forˈmations and ˈUnits

For the liberation of Lida (July 9, 1944) during the Vilnius offensive of 1944, by the Order of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief of 25 July 1944, a formation and three units of the 3rd Belarusian Front were awarded the Lida honorary title.

The units and formation that were awarded the Lida honorary title were the 307th Assault Aviation Division (colonel A. V. Kozhemiakin), 17th Guards Cavalry Regiment (colonel M. Ts. Shawchenka), 23rd (lieutenant colonel A. Ts. Bondar), and 86th (lieutenant colonel A. F. Trukhanaw) Cavalry regiments.

By the Order of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief on July 9, 1944, a commendation was given to the troops that participated in the liberation of Lida; Moscow witnessed 124 guns saluting with 12 artillery salvoes.
