Basˈtyn ˈBattle of 1942
Battle between the partisans of the M. Ts. Shysh detachment (commander M. I. Gerasimov; later, as a part of the V. M. Molotov Partisan Brigade) and German Nazi garrison in the village of Bastyn, Luniniets Rajon, in August 1942 during the Great Patriotic War.
A sawmill which produced sleepers for the railway needs was located in Bastyn. On August 25, 1942, the partisans attacked the garrison stationed in the village, killed 22 Hitlerites, burned down the sawmill and warehouse of finished products (100 m³ sleepers), and seized trophies.
