Magiˈliow ˈMilitary Forˈmations and ˈUnits
For the liberation of Magiliow (June 28, 1944) in the course of the Magiliow offensive of 1944 during the Great Patriotic War, by the Order of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief dd. July 10, 1944, 21 formations and the unit of the 49th and 50th armies of the 2nd Belarusian Front received the Magiliow honorary title.
Units and formations awarded the Magiliow honorary title were the 64th (major general T. K. Shkrylev), 290th (major general I. G. Gasparian), and 330th (colonel V. A. Gusev) Rifle divisions; the 1st Guards Assault (colonel A. F. Vizirov), 11th (colonel G. T. Sokolov), and 50th (colonel I. A. Loginov) Engineer-Sapper brigades; the 2nd Corps (colonel A. I. Malofeev), 5th Independent Fighter-Anti-Tank (colonel D. K. Ushakov), and 143rd Army Artillery (colonel E. K. Tiurin) Artillery brigades; the 33rd Independent Motorised Engineer Brigade (colonel I. M. Gureev); the 16th (Lt.Col. Z. M. Sundakov) and 55th (Lt.Col. M. R. Grigolija) Guards Howitzer Artillery regiments; the 77th (lieutenant colonel P. A. Elesin) and 325th (colonel A. M. Kavalievich) Guards Mortar regiments; the 233rd Independent Tank Regiment (colonel L. S. Tulowski); the 722nd Self-Propelled (Lt.Col. S. I. Kapylov), 1830th Heavy Self-Propelled (Lt.Col. V. S. Gajewski), 1099th Corps (Lt.Col. N. S. Pentiashkin), and 1321st Army Fighter Anti-Tank (colonel A. A. Stepanov) Artillery regiments; the 96th Independent Signal Regiment (Lt.Col. I. S. Tereschenko); the 414th Independent Line Signal Battalion (Lt.Col. F. R. Korbut).
By the Order of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief of June 28, 1944, a commendation was given to the troops that participated in the battles for the liberation of Magiliow, Moscow saw 224 guns saluting with 20 artillery volleys.
